Welcome to September 🎥 This month, we're bringing you a theme packed with local flair—Mzansi Magic. From homegrown talent to stories that resonate with our hearts, this September is all about celebrating the magic of Mzansi on the big screen. With our local Garden Day, Woordfees screenings proudly featuring South African films, and Heritage Day coming up on the 24th, there's no better time to embrace the richness of our culture. 🎥  Our Curator: JamJam the Comedian 🎥

We are excited to introduce our September curator, Khanyisa JamJam, popularly known as JamJam the Comedian. 🎭 JamJam is the rising star of the South African comedy circuit. Since starting his comedy career in 2019, he has become known for his entertaining, thought-provoking, and multilingual brand of stand-up comedy that brings energy and laughs to every event.

JamJam’s influence extends beyond the stage, with his daily Instagram videos offering hilarious commentary on South African life and global sports, making him a favourite among fans. 

JamJam’s solo show, “Sorry for the Weight,” won a Standard Bank Ovation Award at the 2024 National Arts Festival and is already sold out for the Camden Fringe Festival in London. 🎉 He has also been a finalist in the JIVE Funny Championship and was nominated for the Savannah Newcomer Award in 2023 and the Savannah Breakthrough Act of the Year in 2024.

🎥 JamJam Live at Neelsie Cinema

Come and enjoy JamJam Live! at Neelsie Cinema in Stellenbosch on Wednesday, 18 September 2024, at 19:30, with the show starting at 20:00. 🎙️ This is your chance to experience JamJam’s unique comedic style live on stage. 🎥 André The Hilarious Hypnotist

André The Hilarious Hypnotist makes his first visit to Neelsie Cinema. Prepare yourself for all kinds of magical mayhem as André hypnotizes members of the audience, transforming them into Superman, sprinklers, washing machines, typewriters, and more in a series of side-splitting routines that range from the sublime to the unimaginable.  

Join us from Thursday, 19 September to Saturday, 21 September 2024, at 18:30, with the show starting at 19:00. Tickets are R145 per person, with a student rate of R110 per student.

🎥September Movie Marathon: Jurassic World

Get ready for a day of dino-sized excitement! 🦖 Join us on Saturday, 7 September 2024, for an all-day marathon of the Jurassic World series. Dive into the adventure, suspense, and thrilling action that has captivated audiences around the world. This is a must-attend event for any Jurassic World fan!

🎥 Movie Night: Blended & Just Go with It

Enjoy a double dose of laughter on Wednesday, 11 September 2024, with two of Adam Sandler’s most beloved films. 🎥 We’ll kick off the evening with Blended at 18:00, followed by Just Go with It at 20:00. Grab your friends and enjoy a night of comedy at its finest!

🎥 Boer Soek ‘n Vrou Watch Party

Bring your friends every Thursday night for our Boer Soek 'n Vrou watch party at 20:00 in the Neelsie Cinema. Follow these farmers on their heartfelt journey to find love, and enjoy the camaraderie that this beloved show brings. ❤️ We’ll be screening the latest episode live at 20:00, followed by a replay at 21:15. 

🎥 Wednesday Night Screams

Prepare for a spine-chilling September with our Wednesday Night Screams! 😱 Each Wednesday at 10 PM, we’ll be screening some of the most terrifying horror films to ever grace the screen. On 4 September 2024, we’ll kick off with The Strangers: Chapter One, followed by Under Paris on 11 September 2024. Then, get ready for the classic Carrie on 18 September 2024, and we’ll close out the month with Book of Blood on 25 September 2024. Don’t miss these nights of horror at Neelsie Cinema!

 🎥 Garden Town Film Festival

Mark your calendars for the Garden Town Film Festival, running from 25 October to 31 October, with an additional screening on 3 November 2024. 🎟️ All shows will start at 13:00. 🎥 Cinemate: Solo Filmmaker’s Community

Join us on 10 September at Neelsie Cinema for another inspiring Cinemate event. Hosted by local filmmaker Juan de Swardt, this evening is dedicated to solo filmmakers and media enthusiasts. Come participate in a Q&A, discuss gear, and network with fellow creators. 🎬 

🎥 Staycation Program

We are excited to unveil our Staycation program at Neelsie Cinema AGAIN! This unique initiative will feature films that will keep all kids, no matter their age, engaged and excited. 🎉 We will screen three different themed films, ranging from animation to adaptations of prescribed school books, and of course, some teen favorites. This Staycation will be one to remember, running from 20 to 25 September 2024!
