🎥  Our Curator: Carli van Wyk 🎥

For August, we are excited to introduce our new curator, Carli van Wyk, also known as Citizen Carli. During her time at Stellenbosch University, Carli van Wyk served as the Primaria of Stellenbosch University’s biggest female residence, Irene, and was the SRC Chairperson. She was awarded the Rector’s Award for Outstanding Leadership by the Vice Chancellor in 2019.

Carli graduated with a BA Law Degree and completed her Post-Graduate LLB qualification in 2021. In the same year, she was elected as the youngest ward councillor for Stellenbosch Municipality. Carli currently serves as the Mayoral Committee Member for Planning, Local Economic Development, and Tourism.

Carli started the Instagram page CitizenCarli in 2021 as a platform to encourage all South Africans, specifically youth, to be active citizens. Her main focus is to challenge voter apathy and share political news in a fun and easy way. CitizenCarli often unpacks difficult political concepts in a user-friendly manner and engages with various leaders to foster a culture of agency. CitizenCarli describes herself as an everyday South African living out her conviction of being an active citizen.

🎥 Boer Soek ‘n Vrou Watch Party

Bring your friends every Thursday night for the Boer Soek 'n Vrou watch party at 20:00 in the Neelsie Cinema. Follow these eligible farmers on their exciting journey to find love. Boer Soek 'n Vrou has become a must-watch event on the South African television calendar since 2008, with dozens of farmers finding their life partners through this series.

We screen it live at 20:00 and then again the same episode at 9:15. Don't miss out on this exciting event—gather your friends and join us for double the fun!🎥

🎥 Movie Night: Mamma Mia 1 & 2 (Dress-Up Karaoke)!

Get ready for a lively Movie Night featuring Mamma Mia 1 & 2 on Tuesday, August 20th! The first film starts at 5:30pm, followed by Mamma Mia 2 at 8:00pm.

Come dressed in your best ABBA-inspired outfits and join in the fun with a karaoke session. Sing along to your favorite hits and immerse yourself in the joy and music of these beloved films. It’s an evening of catchy tunes, fabulous costumes, and great company.

Starting on August 7th at 10 PM, we’ll kick off with the 2017 horror hit "It," followed by the classic "Child's Play" from 1988 on August 14th.
